Welcome to the University of Hull Babylab!

We are a developmental psychology research group, based in the School of Life Sciences, University of Hull.

We are interested in cognitive development – the study of how infants and children acquire language, develop skills such as memory and thinking, and learn about other people.

If you have a baby or toddler aged 0 – 2 years we would like to invite you to take part in our research!

Follow the links at the top of this page to find more information about our team, and about what participating in one of our studies would involve.

You can also find us on Facebook and Twitter.

What’s happening in this study? The child is presented with a choice of pictures to look at (car or shoe) and will hear one of these objects named. Cameras positioned above the screen record where the child is looking. The researchers in the control room present these words and images to the child. They will later analyse the video recording to work out which words the child understands.
